Despite putting on the greatest performance that I had ever seen, they still came in third place behind the Brave Wanderers who stole first and the Network who came in second. Haruka seemed to take it in stride but April seemed completely devastated. No matter what I said, she wouldn’t budge from her room and even in the brief moments that she left to use the restroom, she never spoke to us.
“So what are you going to do about this?” Haruka said, as she reached on the counter for her IPOD.
I looked at her confused “You mean what are we going to do about this? You’ve known
her longer. If anything you should be the one to know how to cheer her up.”
“I’m not good with these sort of things. You can handle it.”
“Hey wait, where are you going?
“Don’t call me unless it’s important. I’ll be back later
tonight or tomorrow.”
I tried to plead with her to stay or at least give me a good
reason for why she had to leave at a time when April needed her the most but
she left without telling me another word.
“C’mon, April. Have you the seen comments on your SimTube videos? A lot of people are saying they thought you guys should have won, it’s not just me. You were even trending on twitter last night, c’mon don’t pout don’t like this.”
I didn’t know what to do. So I turned to the only person who
could help me.
“Let me guess? You
finally came back to your senses?”
“Hey, you’re not
going to even ask where I’ve been staying at or if I’m okay?!”
“Why does everybody keep walking away from me today?! Hey,
wait up!”
“So what do you think
I should do?
“About what we were discussing earlier, I’ve been trying to work them and put pressure on them but the Harlow Family’s still going to make a move. I think-”
“Bryan, we have
company.”
“Long time no see, Jalil.”
“What’s up, Bryan.”
“You must be having a great summer. When I was your age I
was lucky if a girl invited me over to her house once. How long have you been
staying over at the Smiths' now, a few weeks?”
“Huh? How do you know
I’ve been staying over at April’s house?”
“What do you mean how? You think Jorvan would-”
“Bryan. Since you seem to be in talkative mood why don’t you help him with his problem? The quicker the better so this nuisance can hurry up and leave.”
“Don’t pay his words any mind. As soon as you didn’t come home the next day, he had me and some of the other boys on the force keep an eye on you.”
“That’s hard to believe.”
“You’re his grandson, why would it be?”
“……..”
“So what’s this problem you’re supposed to have?”
“I told you to leave
me alone.”
“………..”
“Let’s go.”
“What?”
“I said let’s go.”
