Chapter 12: The Wolves of Bridgeport IV

“Welcome to Lusha. We’ve only been open for a few months but surely you’ve heard of the name before?”

“You expect me to keep up with all of your family’s front companies? What is it this time? Another law firm where you win cases by strong arming witnesses or maybe another moving company for your drug trafficking?”

“You haven’t changed.  Always expecting the worst from us.”

“The one time I didn’t I lost a close friend.”

“He betrayed us. What did you think would happen? Maybe you should have coached him better before you sent him to infiltrate us. At least when you betrayed us we didn’t know about it until you came back in front of us with a cop uniform.”

 “…………”

“Anyway let’s go inside. So I can show you my apparent evil fortress of terror. ”

“Inaya, you’re late. Again. While you were slacking off, Starlight Talent Agency snatched Robyn Valentine. Yes the same Robyn Valentine that you promised that you were going to bring in. And what did I tell you about coming to the office dressed like a ragamuffin?”

“Why worry about a has-been? The last I heard, Stephanie Spears was waiting in our lobby for you. I think heard Donnie Young and Alexis Holiday were there too.”

“You can wear whatever you want.”

“I’m just a regular person at this company. Not a CEO or a boss. Just a regular joe.”

“These people don’t know me. They don’t know the weight of my family name.  In their eyes, I’m just a person with enough pull to get a job here without needing a college degree.  But this is Starlight Shores, people like me would be a dime a dozen. Everyone has connections.”

“And what connections are you trying to make in this city through this talent agency.”

“You really should stop assuming the worst. My father may lie to get what he wants but you should know me by now, Jorvan. I don’t lie. I don’t have to. What I want, I get and if I have to step on toes, I will do it openly.

“So you expect me to believe you’re in Starlight Shores just to work a regular nine to five?”

“Well what can I say? I am. But let's move this to my office. I suppose I can give you a more believable response although you'll still be skeptical."
